Beam me up

Last night was the pilot for the NBC show Heroes. Loved it. Loved every minute of it. I was a little shocked (as was my daughter who was watching with me - bad parent, I know - but who knew?) as to how dark it ended up being. I was shocked at some of the nature - a porn star? a heroin addict? bloody guts and death? - but it was still awesome. I fast-forwarded through the bad parts for her. (See? Not such a bad parent. Sort of. Sigh.)

I loved the characters (esp. Hiro), the storyline, the development, the seriousness that was taken with each ability and the fact that there is a bigger picture we are not privy to as of yet.

I think this is going to be a great show - bigger than what people expect - at least I hope so. I think Monday is a good timeslot and I hope that people besides comic book readers and sci-fi junkies will give it a chance. The show really has promise and I can't wait for the next episode.

I think this is going to be one of my favorites this season - besides Weeds of course - which BTW has gone beyond my expectations. I love the bro-in-law and if he doesn't win some sort of award this year for his speech on masturbation then we will know there is no justice. MLP? Could not have picked a better woman for this role.

As for any other shows? Can't wait for Ugly Betty. Glad Grey's is back - although The Plague? A little weak. Also am interested in Studio 60 and 30 Rock. Tina Fey AND Alec Baldwin? Oh yeah I'm all over that. Now if they could just move The Office to a time slot that would work better with my schedule.... well - at least I have Tivo. Thank GOD. I'm such an addict.

BTW - I do realize that I have no life. No need to remind me.

Yeah, I thought Heroes was pretty decent--not great, but ok. But then I was a fan of Surface. Kind of a slow start for Heroes, I think, with regards to the actual point of having the special powers. But I was really surprised by some of the very very dark stuff with the mother and the sex and violence. It seems like a show that would appeal to teens and a lot of that storyline was just inappropriate in my opinion. Fine for the 10pm hour, but I was just surprised.

I did love the Japanese guys. They were really fun and sweet and I want only good things for them.

As for the other shows, YAY Grey's Anatomy, and CSI and Studio 60 and Weeds. Also, House is as good as ever. New shows that I liked were Brothers and Sisters (Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, and Sally Field!) and Six Degrees (nice surprise). In fact, Six Degrees is filming all over the west village where I work with OS. In fact, NYC seems crowded with shows right now. I walked past a location shot for Kidnapped this afternoon. These are big productions and they're everywhere right now. It's kinda nice.

Did I watch 6 Degrees? If so, I don't remember a thing. Love Studio 60 and am interested in giving Brothers and Sisters another go. Can't say I expect to watch Heroes again...

Yeah - I didn't watch 6 degrees - but I might catch it tonight.

I know I'm a total geek for loving Heroes - sad, but true. This is what happens when you work with programmers for 6 years. Sigh. I'm just surprised I haven't started watching Battlestar...

Brothers and Sisters wasn't that great - but I do love Rachel and the boys in there are really nice to look at so I might keep watching. Studio 60 is good and I'll stick with it. Glad to see Matthew playing a lead. Love both of them and Amanda Peet. She's so perfect in that role. A little young - esp. in the first episode where they were spouting off her creditials - but still she's great.
